ABOUT AMANDA CORNELIUS

The most important thing, as you search for a counselor, is to find someone who can help you with the current obstacle you are facing. You want someone who is competent, accepting, and compassionate. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), I am committed to walking alongside you as you deal with life’s difficulties. You will be offered hope and healing. I am here to bring clarity and focus, as we work together toward meeting your goals.

I know that the decision to meet with a counselor is a bit scary. I think that you will find me to be very approachable and easy to talk to. I practice a form of therapy called cognitive behavioral therapy. This simply means that my therapeutic approach addresses thoughts and behaviors and how they are related. You will also find that I am holistic in my approach to counseling. I view things from a bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective. It is important that we discuss not only psychological concerns, but relational, physical, and spiritual concerns as well, as they are usually interrelated.

I specialize in working with the adult population. My clinical areas of focus are women’s issues and people in leadership positions. I often work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or general phase of life problems. Nearly all my clients work on their identity development, because I think that not knowing who you are – who you really are – can lead to many difficulties internally and relationally.

I received my master’s degree in counseling psychology from Bethel University and am licensed by the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy in the state of Minnesota. I am also an Approved Clinical Supervisor, which means I supervise new professionals. I am an active member of the Minnesota Counseling Association and the Minnesota Association of Christian Counselors. My hope is that my clients would live in freedom and authenticity. I bring an effective set of skills that will help you grow through and out of the difficulties you are facing today.
